How to make your own deodorant – go on – it’s easy!

IF I CAN DO IT….

Home made deodorant! Go on have a go. It’s so easy and the ingredients are either in your cupboard now or easily bought in the supermarket.

I made some a couple of months ago, using this recipe and gave some to my daughters to try out – they have children old enough to use deodorant now – so it got a good testing!  Anyhow, they both liked it, said it worked and asked for more – which delighted me – I thought I would make a quick video when I made the next batch so I could show you just how easy it is.  I used geranium essential oil, but you could use any that appealed to you.  I think 10 drops is better than 5 in this case – the coconut oil is obviously fatty – which essential oils need in order to disperse safely – and it has a strong smell – which I love! anyway.

You just need:

1 oz (30 grams) bicarbonate of soda
1 oz (30 grams) cup arrowroot powder
5-6 Tbsp Coconut oil

Mix the ingredients together – working it well with a spoon until it binds together, and If you want to use some lovely aromatherapy (essential) oils, then use 5/10 drops and choose whatever ones you like, Transfer to a container (with lid) and store in the fridge (I bought the tiny kilner jar in Sainsburys) .

You can keep it in the fridge but it should be fine in the bathroom – you just dip your fingers in and use it – let it dry for a bit before you dress though.

Let me know if you make it?
