Being pregnant need not prevent your clients from enjoying a relaxing and therapeutic massage. Theory work, discussion and guided practice will help you adapt your existing massage techniques, to safely and confidently treat women from the second trimester onwards. Your clients will feel relaxed in the knowledge, that you are fully qualified to carry out pregnancy massage.
• Learn how pregnancy affects the body.
• Discover how massage can ease some of the side effects associated with pregnancy.
• Widen your understanding of the physical, emotional and practical concerns of a typical expectant woman.
• Understand precautions, contraindications and recommendations for a safe prenatal therapy.
• Learn safe and comfortable positioning techniques and practice a full body prenatal session in the seated, side laying and semi-reclined position.
The theory work will be sent to you for completion in advance and marked by your tutor before attendance. This allows you to concentrate on the practical elements of the course on the day.
In order to complete this course and receive your certificate, you will need to carry out 2 full body massage sessions, one on pregnant case study. This includes a full consultation and writing up of your notes. Your case study must be sent to your tutor within 4 weeks of the course date and can be either emailed or posted as hard copy. There is no written exam, just a practical assessment whilst you work during the day.
Please note this course is for existing professional therapists only with an approved qualification in Anatomy and Physiology and Full Body Massage (at least 100 training hours - a weekend diploma or short course in massage cannot be accepted).
What is included in the course fee
All practical tuition, a comprehensive manual, a certificate of attendance and completion, tutor support before, during and after the workshop Massage couches and oils are provided on the day. Your deposit is inclusive of VAT and there is no VAT to pay on the balance of the course fee. The deposit secures your place on the course. In the event of the course not running you have the option to use it for another date or course, or have it refunded to you in full. The payment balance is required 2 weeks before the course date.
The balance is due one month before the course takes place and Kerrie will then send the pre course workbook for you to complete.
This varies with every association, but for example, the CThA awards 5 points for a one day workshop. You can also earn points for the theory work and research you do in advance as ‘private reading’. The CThA awards 1 point per hour (max of 5 hours per year).
